Clinical Training Specialist
Jo Wyatt is PCRG’s Clinical Training Specialist. She is based in Auckland, New Zealand.
Jo has been actively involved in clinical research for over 15 years. During this time Jo has gained Senior CRA experience working across all phases of clinical trials for both Pharmaceutical & Medical Device companies, working within the UK and Asia Pacific. These clinical trials have been in many therapy areas including Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Oncology & Rheumatology.
Jo qualified from Manchester University, England, with a Masters Degree in Cardiovascular Physiology (MPhil) researching ‘the role of endogenous opioids and GABA on the baroreflex’.
In 1995 she was recruited by a medical device company Deltex Medical. As field trainer she was responsible for training hospital staff in the use of a new Doppler monitor and managing pilot clinical trials of the device in Emergency and ICU departments.
In 1997 Jo moved to work within the pharmaceutical industry as a CRA for Glaxo Welcome (via the UK based CRO, Innovex, now Quintiles). Jo gained further experience running pharmaceutical clinical trials within the UK hospital system when she was recruited in 1999 by Intercern, a site management company. As Team Leader for Intercern Jo was responsible for managing and training a team of site facilitators conducting research across a variety of major pharmaceutical company clinical trials (therapy areas including Diabetes, Pain, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Oncology).
Jo gained valuable experience as a Senior CRA for Innovex in 2002, working within Astra Zeneca’s Head Office as a country lead CRA on global study teams for phase II -III Oncology & Cardiovascular Studies.
In 2004 she was recruited by Quintiles New Zealand and worked as a Senior CRA and Regional Clinical Team Leader on phase IIII Rheumatology and Cardiology studies.
In 2005 Jo joined PCRG as a CRA based in New Zealand. Over the next five years Jo worked on numerous studies from first in human to global Phase III & IV studies. During this time she has managed and monitored sites within New Zealand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore & Thailand. Recently she moved into the position of Clinical Training Specialist.
